Angela Griffiths, Pam Robson and Shirley Gollogley, our three RCIA candidates, attended the Rite of Election on Sunday, February 10, 2008.
Together with candidates from across the diocese they were presented to the new bishop of Middlesbrough, Bishop Terence Patrick Drainey at a special Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough.
They will be formerly accepted into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, March 22nd. In the meantime their preparation continues on Thursday evenings as we keep Angela, Pam and shirley and their families in our prayers.
They will also be made honorary members of the youth club (so long as they behave themselves) as the preparation course is on the same evening in the next room.

WHY I WANT TO BECOME A CATHOLIC
Shirley Gollogley after Mass at Rite of Election

SHIRLEY GOLLOGLY

I have been coming to the Catholic Church with my husband and children for quite a long time and felt there was something missing.

So I decided to take the Journey in Faith.

I feel I am now ready to join the catholic community and look forward to receiving Holy Communion.

ANGELA GRIFFITHS

I want to become a catholic because I enjoy coming to Mass and I believe that the Catholic religion is the one true faith.

I see the Catholic Church as one big family and I would like to be a part of that family.

Pam Robson after Mass at Rite of Election

PAM ROBSON

My daughter wanted me to bring her to church as I stopped going when she was around three. I said that I would take her.

As each week went by I began to enjoy it and felt at peace when I had attended as there is something magical and pure.

Due to these feelings I decided to do the journey in faith.

RCIA CANDIDATES PRESENTED TO THE PARISH

Three candidates who were presented to the our Parish
Three people who wish to become Catholic were presented to the Parish at the 9.30 am Mass at St. Andrew's Church on December 2, 2007, the first Sunday of Advent. The timing was very appropriate as Advent starts a new church year. Pam Robson, Angela Griffiths and Shirley Gollogly have been attending the Journey in Faith group on a Thursday evening in the parish hall. They were presented to the parish by Barbara Conway. During the short service the parish community pledged their full support before the trio stated why they want to become Catholics. Fr. Gubbins told the congregation that next Easter we will welcome them as full members into our parish community. Please pray for them all. To read their testimonies click on their picture above, they are standing on the same row as Canon Edmond Gubbins, Shirley Gollogley is far left; Angela Griffiths second left next to Fr. Gubbins and Pam Robson is on Fr. Gubbins' right.
