bereavement support

Bereavement is indeed one of the most painful emotions the human body has to deal with during our lifetime.

This page was created to help you, especially after the initial support drops off. The phone rings less and less, and people call to see us less frequently. Daily life and living takes over and we now feel totally lost and very alone.

The pain you may be feeling right now can seem almost unbearable at times but will be fully understood and felt by the people we have in our Bereavement Support Group.  They offer a listening ear and friendly support when you need it.

Lord Jesus Christ, you wept over the death of Lazarus and said:
“Blessed are those who mourn.”
Visit, we beseech you, with your compassion the homes and hearts of those who mourn the loss of their loved ones
and may their hope in the resurrection sustain them in this hour of trial. Amen.

Crown of thorns and a cross. Jesus has freed us from our pain.

"He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that has gone forever." Revelation 21:4.

"These, the ransomed of the Lord, will go home along that road to Zion, singing the songs of everlasting joy. For them all sorrow and all sighing will be gone forever; only joy and gladness will be there." Isaiah 35:10,

"Weeping may go on all night, but in the morning there is joy." Psalm 30:5

"He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds." Psalm 147:3.

"If you love Me, obey Me; and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter,[the Holy Spirit, and He will never leave you." John 14:16,

"I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27.

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." I Thessalonians 4:13-17

"Don't be so surprised! Indeed the time is coming when all the dead in their graves shall hear the voice of God's Son, and shall rise again—those who have done good, to eternal life; and those who have continued in evil, to judgment." John 5:28-29,

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” — Psalm 23:4

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” John 11:25-26

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces — Isaiah 25:8

The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.Psalm 145:9

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’” — Revelation 21:3-4

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”Romans 8:37

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38-39

footprints in some sand

One night I had a dream--
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way,
but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
"I don't understand why in times when I needed you most,
you should leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
"When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
